Photo Challenge - FOOD

(ok - trying this again. I hit something a while ago and everything disappeared!! I HATE THAT!)

I joined a photo challenge blog. This weeks's theme is FOOD!

My landlord and a neighbor have a small garden in my backyard. Lots of variety back there, too! Corn, beans, tomatoes, squash, watermelons, pumpkins, okra, bell peppers, etc.

Zucchini half way there. Bloom still on it.

Hey Lottie, here's your pic.

Here is the pic I played with. I love picnik.com for photo editing. It does more than photobucket does. Without those two programs, I don't know what I would do. My EasyShare program only does so much. You may have to click on it to see the full thing. :)

Which Disney Princess Am I?

Rachel blogged about her diggin' Belle. Here was my reply.

Photobucket

I've always had place in my heart for Cinderella. Even thought I don't have stepsister and a stepmom from hell like her, I've always felt like others thought they were better than me.

I couldn't be Belle. I don't like to read... LOL.

Couldn't be Snow White. Living with one mad is enough, let along seven... haha.

Couldn't be Ariel, can't sing.

Couldn't be Jasmine, Don't have the figure for that outfit.

Now I could be Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). I could use a good long nap, but I may slap the prince if he wakes me up too soon.

Potty lesson gone wrong

We've been trying to potty train. Well, I've been trying to get Emily to PT. She doesn't want to. I guess she wasn't listening when I said panties go on your bottom.

Gotta love her!

A Manual Milestone!

Gotta love it when you target is still. :) I've been practicing with full manual again. I think I hit a milestone! Dim light, no flash. If I had a "thumbs up" smiley face, I'd use it here. :)

Week 3 pic - Yard work anyone?

The weekly pic thing is supposed to be mom and child together but this week it just didn't happen. We were going to do some yardwork today and Emily wanted to help. She got her sunhat and some work gloves. She was ready to go!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Maybe this coming week I can get some mommy and me pics shot.

Get your foot off my chest!

I tell you, it feels like someone is standing on my chest. I think I over did it at the pool with Emily and the slide and trying to keep her above water when we got to the bottom. I think I used muscles that haven't had to work that hard in a long time. Tylenol wasn't budging it but advil helped some. I liked to have never went to sleep last night it hurt so bad. But finally around midnight it stopped. I still feel tired today, but not like yesterday.

Emily loves the water slide. We created a monster when we introduced her to it. "MORE MORE MORE!!" is all we heard as soon as we hit the water - barely time to catch our breath and she wanted more. :)

VBS this week... Virus Bug Spreading

I took Emily to VBS this week at a local church that I used to attend growing up as a child and teen. We went there Sunday to visit. Between Sunday and today a virus started to spread. (We didn't go Monday due to Norm's doc appt.) Today several of the parents had it and one of the parent of one of the toddlers in her class. The mom said she think the little girl may be coming down with it, too. She seemed fine to me though. When I went to pick Emily up, she started clinging to me "my 'tomach hurt". We got home and she was still complaining with it. Later she was laying on my bed and after waking up from her nap, I gave her some sprite. We'll she upchucked up... sheets needed washing anyway. Not a major puking but still! She wasn't running a temp but I gave her some tylenol. Well, after her bath we gave her some crackers and a little more sprite and she's been fine ever since... knock on wood! That was around 1 PM or so... may 2 pm at the latest. It's 8 pm and all's well. We'll see how things go tonight and in the morning before sending her to VBS again.

Memory - or lack there of!

Ever think of something but later when you want to remember it, NOTHING... ZILCH!!

We were on the road either going to or coming back from Norm's doc appt. and was in random thought as I drove. Something came to me and I thought that would be a good thing to blog about. Last night when I got on the computer I could not for the life of me think of what I wanted to write about. Oh well! Maybe one day! Guess I need to start keeping a notebook or a recorder around to make notes of blogworth useless information. HAHA!

Knock Knock - Who's There

We don't get many visitors here at home and that is fine. What bugs us is when people just pop in - usually at supper time - EVERYTIME. It would be nice if they would at least call and say hey, we're wanting to stop by for a minute or so. That's fine. Then we could fix supper later or at least be cleaned up for when you get here. Also, if they would call, they would see if we were home or not and not waste precious gas when we aren't home. Yes, we have caller ID and yes, we have not answered it when we didn't want visitors (twice), but for the most part, we'd just appreciate a call first. :) What if we were sick as all get out? Would you want to come in then? Fine, I'll cough all over you. :) Shake your hand and give you my germs. HaHa!

Just my random thought for the evening. :)

HAPPY FATHER's DAY!

Hope you dads had a great day! Emily tried to sign her name to her card... about 4 vertical lines, but she tried! She gave him the card but took it back. It had Cinderella on it! She had to have it back. :)

Today I went to my old church and helped the youth do a song in sign language - Cinderella by Stephen Curtis Chapman. It turned out great for as little practice as we all had. :) During Sunday school, Emily made her dad a sticker picture... full of craft foam stickers... ALL OVER IT! And helped decorate a craft foam CD holder for him, too. :) It was sweet! He got him some of those water shoes for the next time we go swimming so he doesn't burn his feet again. :)

I always have trouble figuring out what to get my dad for father's day. This year it was hard. I ended up getting some of his favorite snacks... veinna sausages and a block of Vermont Extra Sharp cheddar cheese. I know, that sounds so redneck of a gift. Haha! But he is so hard to buy for. He's into old coffee grinders and other antiques... sort of out of my budget. :) I'm sure he'll get a kick out of the gift.

Have a great day!
Mama!

House Cleaning

Anyone who likes to clean house, please raise your hand!

I'm looking around. Not too many hands up out there!

HEY YOU!! Want to come to my house? YEAH YOU!! I saw you start to raise your hand.

I hate to clean house. We've been cleaning up yesterday and today. MIL and a friend of hers is coming to visit. I haven't had much time to do much this week with Norm being in the hospital and doctor visits. Got laundry done, he helped with the dishes, got the kitchen pretty much clean. Got a pizza pan soaking. It doesn't matter how much spray I use, pieces still stick like glue to it. Guess I can start covering it with tin foil. Easy clean up then! Got the carpet vacuumed. Now Emily's play room... looks like a tornado hit it and it will stay that way. Going to put a sign up - ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Sometimes I wish one of those organization/cleaning shows would come to my house and help me get rid of some stuff. I did have a yard sale last week and got rid of a bunch of stuff just taking up space. I still need to get rid of more stuff. I really just need to throw away a bunch of stuff that I haven't used in forever, clothes that I know I won't wear again - some too small, some too big, some I just won't wear for various reasons. Emily's toys is another story. Lordy, that child has toys! Tooooooooo many! I've tried to weed out the ones that aren't being played with or that she's out grown - the baby stuff. But she still has a ton!! What do you get rid of? You don't want to get rid of things that the grandparents gave her but dang at the stuff that kid has! Keep that room straight is a waste of time! Seriously! I'm the only one that cleans up. She's two. She tries but I think it wears me out having to constantly get her to help me. Oh now, she'll pick up at daycare! She'll see something sitting out and have to pick it up before we head out the door... then something else... then something else! HELLO! WHy can't you do this at home??

Anyway! Have a great weekend to whoever reads this!

Guess what

Norm's home! He goes back for a check up on Monday to make sure everything is still healing well and is off work until the doc clears him.

Homecoming

Norman is coming home today... sometime today. WHEN today is still up in the air. It is lunchtime and he's still there. I know he'll be glad to be home!! We will be glad, too. Emily is really missing him. She's been wanting her daddy. She got to see him in the hospital but it is still not like having daddy at home. :)

Ooooops!

Sorry those pics turned out so big. I tried to resize them on photobucket. Oh well!

Oh, update on Norman! Still sitting bored out of his mind at the hospital. Maybe he'll get to come home tomorrow. Toe seems to be healing well! Slowly but surely!

Moto Photo Fun! Picnik Anyone?

http://animoto.com That is a neat site. Set up a free account. Load your pics, pick your music clip, save it and they email you when it is done. Only take a few minutes. Well, that was as school on the faster internet. It will probably be slower here at home on DSL.

Another site we visited... http://www.picnik.com It is a great photo editting program. It does things that photobucket's program can't do. Makes for a pretty good substitute for not having Photoshop or programs like that. Here are some before and after samples for you.

I forgot what this was called. Oh well. I'll know it when I see it.

Hello Animoto!

Hello Moto!

Had a great time at the workshop today!

The Hello Moto clip is one thing I made.

I'll post more later!

The Agony of De-Feet

Good news! Norm's feet, actually that big toe is going to be fine. The doc came in this morning. No surgery thank goodness! He cut the dead skin off, cleaned it, medicated it, bandaged it and told him to stay off of it. He'll be there until enough skin grows back. They still have him on IV antibiotics. I'm glad the infection isn't as bad as we thought!

Going to a workshop this morning on how to play with digital pictures. I'll post the results later if I can. :)

Playing for Perfection

I've been playing with that first pic for the 52 weeks of pics. Here is the before and the after. Does it look better?

Hot Pavement = Hurt Feet

Norman is in the hospital. Dr. Gardner put him in there today. Last week when we were at Spring Valley Beach, we walked up to the big slides and he walked barefooted on the hot pavement. It blistered the bottom of his feet on the balls and one of his big toes. The big toe got the worst of it. The skin came off later that day at the pool and it got infected. It is swolen and red-ish purple. 2nd degree burn. He also had a red streak starting up his foot, blood poisoning? So, they have him on IV antibiotics and waiting on surgical consult to see what they will need to do to that toe. We know nothing yet. I had been doctoring it the best I could with peroxide and neosporin, bandaides, gauze, etc.

Diabetics are known to have feet problems and difficulty healing from infections. Let's hope he heals quickly!

52 Weeks of pics? Week 1

Some friends and I are trying to do the "52 Weeks" of pics with "mom and child" shots. It is hard getting a good pic with my camera with the timer and using manual. I'm trying to get away from auto and using the flash so much. The lighting in my house is pitiful. Here is Week 1.
Photobucket

I tried to take some shots outside on the carport with natural lighting with the bubble machine but they turned out grainy. This is SOOC.
Photobucket

Who knows. ANYWAY! My goal now is to clean out the laundry room. It has the best natural lighting out of the whole house. It should be interesting to see how much improvement I can make over the next 52 weeks!

Mama Snapped

I've snapped. I've started a blog!

I chose "Mama Snapped" because I'm a mama and I snap shots whenever I can!

I teach preschool special ed. Photography is my hobby. I love taking pics. I'm still learning how to snap in manual.

I'll be back later with more!
